Once you’re done learning about the kinds of EV’s, it’ll be time to learn about the different classifications for electric vehicle charging stations (EVSE’s).

Level 1 – These plug into a 120 (volt), 20 (ampere) receptacle and provide “trickle” charging at the slowest rate. They can typically fully charge a typical electric car in 16-32 hours. This equipment may be portable or may be in a fixed location.

Level 2 – This type is permanently installed and uses a dedicated circuit that will be 208V – 240V and 40A to 100A. Charging times will be in the four to six hour range for most cars, more for trucks or cars with larger battery capacity.

Level 3 – These are gas-pump sized devices that produce 450VDC and require 480V, 3-phase power. They will recharge many electric cars to 80% in about 25 minutes and will be installed at freeway locations, car dealerships and fleet facilities.

We install all three levels of chargers, so give us a call at 206-202-2635 or fill out the form below when you’re ready to charge your EV conveniently.
